Holiday Party Recap

We hosted a lovely Holiday Party Dec. 21! Around 90 wonderful people joined us, including the incredible kids who participated in our essay contest. Thank you to each and every one of you who made this night so special! Your presence and enthusiasm added an extra sparkle to the festivities.

Top of the Hill Barbershop Quartet: Huge applause to the talented quartet for their amazing performances that filled the air with holiday melodies and cheer! The delicious pork tenderloin with all the fixings was a hit! Thank you to Jan for serving up such a scrumptious meal. Santa Claus brought the magic of the season, delighting our little guests with gifts and spreading cheer throughout the evening. We hope you all enjoyed swapping your favorite homemade cookies! The variety of treats shared was absolutely delightful.

Your generosity overflowed for the Ballard Food Bank Donation Drive! Thank you for contributing to our donation drive and helping support the Ballard Food Bank during this special time of giving.👏 A Big Round of Applause to our incredible team of volunteers—your hard work and dedication made this event a resounding success!

Thank you once again for making our Holiday Party a night to remember. Your support means the world to us. Wishing you all a joyful holiday season filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments! ❤️🎅🎁

Commander’s Corner (November 2023)

In case you missed it, we had our most exciting and successful Post 3063 fundraiser in recent memory Oct. 21. We raised a gross fundraising total of nearly $19,000 through a raffle, a silent online and live auction, dessert dash and ticket sales. This year we had help from fundraising guru and Vietnam Veteran, Comrade Jay Fiske. We wholeheartedly appreciate his help, along with our post and auxiliary volunteers, to make it a fun event for everyone who attended. 

There is no rest for our post as we’re now focused on planning our Veterans Day event. We will dedicate our new flag pole to Comrade Harold Rodenberger at 9 a.m. on Nov. 11. After our ceremony, we’ll open up the post to the public until 2 p.m. We’ll have a pop-up coffee shop called Emme serving custom brews and baked goods. We’ll also have information about the post, auxiliary, Buddy Poppies and VA benefits on display for those who stop by. We’d love to have our post members there to tell their stories and inform the public about our mission. Please sign up here to participate or contact me directly!

For our Nov. 16 social, we plan to deviate from our traditional Thanksgiving dinner and have a Thursday Night Football-themed event. (We’re currently dealing with some plumbing issues so heavy cooking in the kitchen is on pause.) Earlier that day at 10 a.m. we’ll also continue the Five and Five discussion group led by Comrade Dave Tyner.

Lastly, you may be wondering about our print newsletter. After analyzing our budget and encountering issues with the printing company, we’ve decided to print and mail one issue per year. It will be mailed prior to our May installation. As the commander and newsletter editor, I apologize to those who enjoy reading the print newsletter. Fundraiser a huge success!

We’re still basking in the glow of our VFW Post 3063 fundraiser dinner and online auction’s incredible success. The outpouring of support from each and every one of you has left us feeling both grateful and inspired.

From the mouthwatering delights and cherished moments at our dinner to the spirited bidding and excitement in our live and online auctions, your involvement has made a significant difference in our mission.

But our gratitude doesn’t end there. It extends to our exceptional volunteers, who include post and auxiliary members, families, friends, and the ever-inspiring Girl Scouts. Your time and selflessness have propelled our cause to new heights.

Together, we continue to fulfill our promise of fostering camaraderie, serving our veterans, the military, and our communities, and advocating for all veterans.

Thank you for being a vital part of our community and for your unwavering commitment to our shared mission. With your support, we can truly make a difference.

Commander’s Corner (October 2023)

Fall is here so that means we’re in the midst of Post 3063’s fundraising season. As the Seelig family knows, planning and executing a fundraising event is no easy feat. Please show up and support your fellow veterans on Oct. 21! It only takes 15 seconds to RSVP here so do it now. (So far we have less than 15.)

Here are a few events coming up this week:
Oct. 3 at 5:30 p.m. – Deployment care package assembly with the Fremont Rotary at the post
Oct. 4 at 3:30 p.m. – Public comment about the Memorial Stadium Memorial Wall landmark status; contact me for details.
Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. – Monthly Business Meeting

Another big item on our radar is the VFW’s Youth Essay Program. We have the high school level Voice of Democracy contest, middle school level Patriot’s Pen contest, and the VFW WA Department-sponsored elementary school level Youth Essay contest. Encourage your family, neighbors and friends to participate and submit their essays to the post by Oct. 31.

TMC at Post 3063 for 9/11 Service Event

On Sept. 16, The Mission Continues, a dedicated organization committed to supporting veterans and promoting community service, sponsored a service event at our post. The event was held to commemorate the tragic events of 9/11 and honor the memory of those who lost their lives on that day.

Volunteers from various backgrounds, including veterans, SeaTac Customs and Border Protection agents, family and community members, gathered with a shared sense of purpose and unity. Their mission? To give back to the community and contribute to the VFW post’s mission of supporting veterans and their families.

The day’s activities were diverse and impactful, reflecting TMC’ dedication to making a meaningful difference. Participants rolled up their sleeves and got to work with tasks that ranged from furniture assembly to picture hanging, bookshelf reinforcing, tree pruning, and even the respectful recycling of unserviceable American flags.

In addition to the meaningful service activities organized by TMC and the dedicated efforts of the volunteers, the sense of community and support during the event was further exemplified by the VFW Post 3063 Auxiliary. They played an integral role by providing a delicious lunch to all the hardworking volunteers.
