May 18 we celebrated Armed Forces Day a couple days early with our community and special guests from the America’s First Corps Band out of JBLM, the Washington National Guard‘s 181st Brigade Support Battalion, A Company (also our post’s Adopted Unit), Rachel Morgan from the VA Puget Sound Health Care System and Joanna Bomba from the King County Veterans Program. Today and every day, we honor their immeasurable service on behalf of our grateful Nation.
Post 3063 is proud to participate in the National VFW’s Day of Service program. In May posts around the country are organizing service events in order to give back to their communities. We will do the same by picking up litter at Golden Gardens on May 27 at 2 pm. Comrade Jesse Basher has reserved a shelter on the north end of the park so be prepared to meet there or talk to him if you’re interested in shuttling from the Ballard Elks. Also bring a dish and beverages for the cookout. (We’ll provide the meat, buns and condiments…and also Gatorade, of course!)
Continuing our efforts to engage the community, we are organizing an Armed Forces Day-themed social on May 18. The event will feature a special performance by the esteemed I Corps Brass Quintet. Additionally, the Washington National Guard’s 181st BSB A co static display will allow attendees to get an up-close look at military equipment and vehicles. Please RSVP with Aly by May 16 at [email protected].
