"No One Does More for Veterans"
Bring out your shred! Bring out your shred! But it’s not time to shred yet. It soon will be… on July 8th!
We will have a ProShred shredding truck in our parking lot from noon to 3 p.m. on July 8th. You are encouraged to bring sensitive papers that you want to shred. Watch the operation from the time you deposit the papers into the bins until they are turned to confetti before your eyes.
Post members, members of other veterans organizations and members of our community may shred documents in return for a donation to help defray the cost of the operation.
Please remember that the charge for shredding is at least $1.00 per pound at companies that accept papers for shredding and that you surrender control of your documents in those cases.
If you plan to attend the event, please RSVP on our Facebook event page.

You may recognize Jessica Chacko’s name: she’s a high schooler who has volunteered with Post 3063 at the Seattle VA Medical Center and she represented Post 3063 at the district level for the Voice of Democracy Essay Contest, where she placed third. Jessica also serves as a petty officer third class with the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets Corps based out of Naval Station Everett.
As a way to recognize these efforts, the Naval Sea Cadet Corps and Post 3063 decided to award her with a VFW Sea Cadet Medal. The medal is granted for outstanding achievement and exceptional leadership ability. Post 3063 Sr. Vice Commander Pete Krawitz formally presented the medal to Jessica, with her family and friends in attendance, at the monthly post social April 20, 2017.
The post greatly appreciates Jessica’s dedication to serving veterans. Thank you, Jessica!

Post 3063 has adopted Boy Scout Troop 80 in Magnolia. We plan to work with them to sponsor an Eagle Scout for the VFW’s Scout of the Year program.
Post 3063 member Elizabeth Servey and her husband Brian are Boy Scout Leaders for Troop 80 so this is why we chose to sponsor this particular troop since we already had a relationship with them through Elizabeth. Roger Wiley is the Scout Master for Troop 80.
The Serveys have two boys, Andrew and James, who belong to Troop 80. James and Andrew and other Scouts and Girl Scouts have participated with Post 3063 members when we visited patients at the VA hospitals so we already have a good working relationship with Troop 80.
In addition, the Post voted to donate $200, which will help the troop purchase much needed camping equipment to use on their many outdoor adventures.
The post looks forward to working with Troop 80 on other projects in the future.
