As part of the VFW Day of Service, our Post proudly stepped up to support one of Ballard’s biggest community celebrations: the 17th of May Parade, and it was a tremendous success! The skies poured down rain beforehand, but just in time for the parade, it cleared, and our team was ready.
Here’s what we accomplished:
– Staffed the Bergen Place information booth all day
– Stepped off the parade with a flag detail, marking a new tradition for our Post as we took the baton from American Legion Post 40
– Showcased our Jeep and Day of Service mission at the parade’s front
– Ran a litter patrol and held our VFW banner at the parade’s end, and the crowd loved it!
– Members, family, and friends pitched in together to make it all happen
Huge thanks to all who volunteered. It was a perfect way to serve our community and show what the VFW is all about.
