Honor Guard Scatters Ashes at Sea

A woman from South Carolina called the office late last summer with a request for help disposing of her uncle’s ashes. She said she was the only next of kin and her uncle had wanted to have his ashes scattered in Puget Sound where he had worked in the ferry system and held other jobs associated with the salt water. Comrade Quartermaster Rodenberger told her that our honor guard could help so she sent the ashes along with a monetary donation to our post.

By the time the package arrived, it was into our winter weather pattern, so we couldn’t carry out our promise until this summer. Joe Fitzgerald and Dan Stokke coordinated a date when both would be in town, Bill Griffith joined the expedition, and the task was successfully carried out in August. Kudos to our Post 3063 Honor Guard for carrying out this last request!
