Post sponsors USAF band performance at Benaroya Hall

Members of the public were treated to a free performance April 28 at Benaroya Hall courtesy of the USAF Band of the Golden West. VFW Post 3063 leadership was proud to sponsor this performance by talented Air Force musicians that featured jazz and patriotic music. The Seattle performance was one of many concerts held through out the state. The band is stationed at Travis Air Force Base, Calif. and is the only active duty U.S. Air Force band west of the Rockies.

District 2 fundraiser features camaraderie and Traditional Irish music

We had a full house at our post March 16 for the District 2 annual fundraiser. Thank you to the 92nd Battalion band for playing beautiful traditional Irish tunes! We also have so much gratitude for our hard charging volunteers who work tirelessly to serve veterans and our community.?

Post recycles 125 flags

We performed our first ever flag recycling event March 25. Thanks to our post and auxiliary members for pitching in to disassemble around 125 flags that will be recycled through one of the Seattle Public Utilities Threadcycle partners. We'll also deliver scraps to Seattle ReCreative.

Flag recycling event March 25

We're hosting our first ever flag recycling event on the 25th at 2 p.m. at the post. We've collected more than 300 discarded flags. We used to dispose of the flags by burning them but neighbors complained and we agreed: this is not an environmentally friendly solution. We did our research and discovered that discarded flags can be properly disposed of by shredding and recycling the fabric, which is a win-win! If you have a pair of fabric shears and would like to help shred, please join us! Also feel free to drop off your unserviceable flags.
